Your Environmental Angel

Christina Masotti founded Carriage House in 1998 after realizing a demand for high quality furniture restorations in the Ottawa Hull Region.

Christina has an extensive background in furniture. From early childhood, she had an interest and ability in building, the arts and creating. From childhood these tasks inspired her. In her early teens she watched the construction of her family cottage in Quebec and at this point it became very apparent that her future would involve building and design.

Christina's post education commenced in her late teens when she attended Algonquin College to study business. A few years later, again at Algonquin College, she entered into the then two year full time Furniture Technician Program; cabinetmaking, were she graduated in the top ten percent of her class.

Christina opted to enter into the furniture restoration industry upon her graduation after many lengthy conversations with her advisors and teachers. Furniture restorations could permit a broader learning environment for the design and construction of furniture. It allowed her to work with numerous construction methods, many different woods, periods and styles and develope her sense of design. Christina also had the wonderful opportunity of working with highly skilled European craftsmen early in her work apprenticeship.

Christina's business continues to grow. She is a self proclaimed environmental Angel who lives by the words: Salvage, Recreate, Reuse and Reduce.

She now offers Custom Furniture Design and Development, Kitchen Design, Upholstery, Fabrics and Consultations.

Carriage House became known to the public through the famous Bi-Annual Designer Garage Sales co-hosted with Lori Steeves from Simply Home Design. These sales would showcase Christina's re-creations of old worthy furniture as well as the value and fun in this process. This led to a showroom showcasing her work and ideas (see store page)

Don't fill land sites with beautiful old furniture. Be Careful what you buy and what you throw away. Please recycle!

Christina is always disheartened to find land sites filled with wonderful old furniture. Please give these pieces the tender love and care that they deserve rather than abandonment
